An intense fire that gutted an apartment building under construction and spread to an adjacent City of Los Angeles building required ATI’s emergency-response service and expertise to remove and restore sensitive municipal documents.
ATI expedited removal of contents from ten floors of Los Angeles Department of Water and Power employees. More than 20,000 boxes were moved from fire- and smoke- damaged floors to a temporary storage warehouse. ATI crews numbering more than 100 worked around the clock to clean and deodorize documents and files. ATI also cataloged and inventoried total-loss items, including employees’ personal belongings and city files and computers.
Priority items were completed and returned first to allow city employees to resume their work in temporary offices. The mayor of Los Angeles visited the ATI team during the cleanup, which had to be scheduled around the holidays. The project took eight months to complete.
