Hurricane Season Preparedness

Hurricane season began on June 1 and, given the impact that hurricanes can have, it is essential to take the right preventative measures to prepare.

In this month’s newsletter, we highlight our work helping businesses recover from Hurricane Ian, building on our experience responding to major hurricanes over the last 15+ years.

ATI’s Response to Hurricane Ian

On September 28, 2022, Hurricane Ian made landfall just west of Fort Myers, Florida. With wind speeds 2 mph shy of a Category 5 hurricane, Ian was the second-deadliest storm to strike the continental U.S. in this century. Buildings collapsed and those still standing experienced massive drywall and ceiling damage and water damage.

Roadways were blocked by floodwaters, and there was no land-based route to Captiva Island or Sanibel Island. So, ATI chartered barges, fishing boats, yachts, and ferries to transport personnel, supplies, and equipment to job sites.

Because of these efforts, ATI was the first restoration contractor to reach the affected islands. In total, ATI sent 260 workers to the recovery effort from across the U.S. This is the benefit of partnering with a national firm: we can mobilize staff and equipment from anywhere as needed.
