THE CHALLENGE
SunWest Milling, a major rice processor in Sacramento, CA, faced a significant disaster when a fire broke out in one of its towers. The blaze led to an explosion, extensive smoke damage, and water damage from the firefighting efforts. The situation was further complicated by the release of asbestos fibers and mold growth.
THE OUTCOME
ATI’s strategic approach allowed our client to continue its full rice production without any interruptions, saving the client both time and money. The restoration project was completed on time and under budget, with zero OSHA violations, highlighting ATI’s commitment to safety and compliance. In addition to addressing the immediate damage, ATI provided long-term value through safety training, preventative maintenance education, and improvements to the facility, such as enhanced lighting and a white gloss finish for easier cleanliness monitoring.

The Situation

This milling company urgently needed a disaster recovery service that could not only manage the environmental and structural challenges, but also allow the facility to safety continue its critical rice production operations. ATI Restoration was chosen for the job due to its detailed and production-conscious proposal.

The Solution

We developed a plan that aligned with the client’s production schedule, working Monday through Thursday on general cleaning, with fine cleaning on Fridays and painting over the weekend. To accommodate the ongoing rice production, ATI implemented HEPA-filtered air systems and negative air controls, allowing our crews to work in full PPE without disrupting operations. The team used a manlift and independent hoist systems for personnel and equipment movement across the six levels, ensuring efficient project completion despite limited scaffolding and no elevator access.
