For some restorers, just hearing the word ‘TPA’ is enough to raise their heart rate, stir up some deep-seated rage, and maybe even a little perspiration. That may be a slight exaggeration, but the truth is that TPAs can illicit some passionate feelings within the restoration community. Don’t get me wrong, the documentation requirements, performance metrics, and frequent pushback can definitely pose some challenges and frustration. However, as someone who has grown multiple restoration businesses through TPA work, including one that scaled from $0 to $15+ million in just 4 years, I want to offer a different perspective. If you’re willing to learn the game and play it well, you’ll be rewarded.
