Despite years of regulations and bans, asbestos remains a critical concern for commercial property owners. Many older buildings still contain asbestos in insulation, roofing, and flooring. Disturbing these materials during restoration, repair, and demolition work can release dangerous fibers, leading to serious health problems.
If asbestos has been disturbed, businesses must engage licensed asbestos abatement experts to remove or encapsulate this hazardous material and ensure it is properly sealed off or disposed of in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
Business owners and property managers must stay informed and proactive to protect workers and residents from asbestos risks. Download our latest whitepaper to discover best practices for managing the hazards of asbestos abatement.
ATI Restoration undertook a year-long massive structural upgrade at an eight-story, 54,000-square-foot hospital in Van Nuys, California, while the facility remained open to provide high-risk patient care. The project required extensive asbestos and lead abatement, selective interior demolition, and support for the general contractor’s seismic improvements.
ATI crews meticulously removed both nonhazardous and hazardous materials from walls, ceilings, and floors, addressing asbestos and lead-based paint hazards. To ensure the safety of patients, staff, and workers, the team erected infection control risk assessment enclosures and conducted daily inspections of temporary construction barriers to prevent dust contamination. Our team also measured and documented ambient particle counts in patient-care areas. Fire-stop sealing of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing penetrations ensured compliance with industry codes and standards.
To minimize disruptions to patient care, ATI worked around the hospital’s high-demand hours. The project was completed on time and within budget, meeting high safety and quality standards.
